LightintheBox.com has been known to sell knock-off formal dresses

After investigating LightintheBox.com, it has been discovered that this website is from Asia and they sell formal dresses that are not from the original designer, but copies that they make based upon a picture. LightintheBox has been added to our Do Not Buy list. They may be illegally selling one or more dress lines using the manufacturers pictures or pictures from actual people without their permission. These dresses are imitations and not authentic from the actual designer. Buyer beware!

"Ordered a crystal wedding sash to wear with my wedding dress. Placed order 4/8/18 and according to shipping timeline it said I would have it in plenty of time before the wedding. My wedding was 4/28/18. The package arrived 2 days after my wedding!!! I will never order from them again!"

LightintheBox.com has been added to our knock-off dress list. This company ships knock-off dresses from Asia and is trying to take advantage of consumers by selling dresses they claim to be authentic. This store uses images from manufacturers illegally under US copyright law.

Be extra safe when shopping online and do your research before buying from a company that you are not sure of!

Nice looking clothes, reasonably priced, delivered in a couple weeks. What we would expect from an overseas retailer doing mail order business in the US. Not exactly…

BUYER BEWARE, I would like to share my experience for those trying to decide of they should click “place my order”, or move on. If you do order from this company, be prepared to keep whatever they throw in your mailbox, they make returns very difficult if not impossible.

Although the clothes are cute and the quality appears to be satisfactory, the sizing is NOT accurate. I ordered three tops in size “M” and only one actually fit. These items are much smaller than a typical M in the US marketplace. Tried to initiate a return and things got really frustrating. Ten days of back and forth, requesting pictures of the UPC on the packages, then lay the items out on the floor and take pictures with a ruler, then we need more pictures. Really? The items don’t fit and are simply very small for their advertised size. One of the three items fit, I’m not crazy or lying to myself about what my size really is… Now I must send them back at my own expense to China – or “We understand how expensive a return can be, so we will offer you a 60% credit on a future order, or 40% of a refund to just keep the items”. NO, this was not my fault, and they don’t fit. What makes them think a partial refund will make me feel good about squeezing into a sausage casing of a blouse? I understand business, costs, and minimizing liabilities but lightinthebox has no true intent of standing behind what they sell. They have tried to draw out the return process to frustrate a customer until the $36 is no longer worth the trouble.

If you feel like playing the lottery for sizes, click away. If you expect a “free return” as advertised at the top of the page when you google search the company you will be disappointed.

I bought a men’s robe from this shipper and took 3 weeks to delivery

When received I noticed the material was not the same as advertised on the website and the length
of the robe was short (above my knees) and not to the bottom of my legs.
I washed this robe and the size was reduced to two sizes smaller (cheep 100% cotton)
Do not buy anything from this company !!!!!

I wish I had seen these comments prior to ordering anything from this company. Impossible to find a website that offers any contact info. I wanted to return a summer dress and was told that I had to pay for return shipping to China. The return address on the package was New York. China thru UPS would have been over $100.00. The dress was poorly made and at least two sizes too small for an XL. Poor customer service and the dress was so badly made that I will use it for a rag, not even decent enough to offer a friend who might fit into it. Terrible company, Buyer Beware.

I bought 3 tee shirts from these guys and found out that 3xl doesn’t mean 3xl more like 1xl. I tried to return the shirts but was told that I would have to pay for the return and restocking fees that would be almost the same as the cost. Now I’m stuck with some expensive shop rags.

Our general return policy applies to all eligible products except certain dresses listed below. You may return product(s) within 7 days for either a store credit or you may make an exchange. We do not issue refunds. A store credit will be issued minus a 15% restocking fee will be applied to all returns/exchanges. We do not profit from this restocking fee since our suppliers charge us this fee. An RMA must be submitted for approval in order to return an item. Shipping fees, if any, which were applied at purchase are not refunded. Once the item is received, an email will be sent to you with a store credit code that does not expire or an exchange will be processed.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO RETURN AN ITEM?

We offer a 7-day return window for most purchases (exclusions listed below).

The return window begins when your package is marked "Delivered" by the tracking system. From that time, you have 7 days (including weekends and holidays) to make a return/exchange request. You will be unable to submit a return/exchange request after that 7-day period.

ABOUT RE:DO RETURNS

  • Customers now have the option to pay $1.98 at the time of purchase to later qualify for free returns on that order.
  • Didn’t add and checkout with Re:Do? You will still return like normal and purchase a label through them with discounted shipping rates saving you time and money!

WHAT ITEMS ARE EXCLUDED FROM RETURNS AND EXCHANGES?

The following items are not eligible for a return or exchange:

  • Clearance items (will be clearly marked "Clearance" or have the price that does not end in $xx.99 or $xx.98)
  • Wedding gowns
  • Quinceanera dresses
  • Cinderella Divine Black Label
  • Tiaras
  • Designer dresses by Andrea & Leo Couture and DeKlaire Bridal

ARE THERE ANY FEES FOR RETURNING AN ELIGIBLE ITEM?

The following fees are as follows:

  • If shipping was complimentary at checkout, original freight/handling cost will be deducted.
  • Customer is responsible for shipping costs on return/exchanged items if RE:DO was not added to your order at checkout.
  • A 15% restocking fee for all returns will be accessed.
  • Packages that are denied and "returned to sender" or refused will be subject to a 50% restocking fee.
  • Please note that any amount paid for shipping is non-refundable.

WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE AN EXCHANGE?

If you would like to make an exchange for a different size or dress, simply submit an RMA by clicking here . Once approved, you will receive an email with instructions. The exchange process can take 7-12 days. Once the item has been received and approved, you will receive an email with a code that you can use to apply on our website to make an exchange. You will go through the checkout process online.

If time is of the essence, place a new order for the item you need, then contact us by email informing us of this decision. If for some reason the item that you ordered is not available, it will not constitute a refund. In such a case, a store credit will be issued once the original dress has been returned.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR RETURNED ITEMS?

  • Returns are carefully inspected; all original tags must be in place and the product must not show any signs of wear or damage.
  • Items found with snags, worn, washed, altered, ripped, stained, grease marks, pet hair, pen marks, perfume, deodorant stains, smoke odor and/or missing tags will be returned immediately at the customer's expense.
